Fire Prevention Week (FPW) is October 8thd through the 14th this year! FPW happens every year and is sponsored by the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA). Each year the NFPA has a campaign that it focuses on. This year's campaign is, “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention™”. But Frederick-Firestone Fire District is changing things up a bit. As important as cooking fire safety is, we wanted to educate the community on fire risks that were more of a risk to our community. That's why we came up with this year's theme "Charge Up with Fire Safety" which focuses on electrical fire safety.
As a way to spread information and education to the communities and residents that we serve please find some fun, educational activities for all ages below. More information about Fire Prevention Week more information can also be found on the District's Fire Prevention Week Page below.
It's almost time! Fire Prevention Week is right around the corner. This year FFFD will be visiting our 2nd and 3rd grade classes and teaching with the Sound Off Program! The Sound Off with the Home Fire Safety Patrol is a 4 lesson fire safety program filled with education activities, fun interactive videos, and has students complete their own home risk assessments. This includes going on a scavenger hunt for smoke alarms in their home and creating an evacuation plan. We ask that parents be ready to talk with their 2nd or 3rd graders about fire safety in their homes and be prepared to be educated! They are about to have some pretty cool first responders teach them a thing or two about fire safety!
