On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at approximately 8:18 p.m. the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District responded to a commercial structure fire at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 436 Fifth St. in downtown Frederick.
The church was in use when the fire broke out, but all occupants inside were safely evacuated without injury. Frederick-Firestone Fire crews were on-scene within 3 minutes of the call being dispatched.
The Frederick-Firestone Fire District received mutual aid from its partners, Platteville-Gilcrest Fire Protection District, Mountain View Fire and Rescue, and Fort Lupton Fire Protection District. Frederick and Dacono Police Departments were on scene to provide traffic control.
Frederick-Firestone Fire District’s Planning Section is assisting the Church with alternate locations to hold their services.
Active fire was found in the walls and attic spaces inside this historical community church when Frederick-Firestone Fire District arrived. Frederick-Firestone Fire Investigators are currently determining the cause of the fire at this time.
