Update: Potential Planned Burns in Frederick Postponed Until 2022

The Planned and controlled burns within the Town of Frederick have been postponed. The goal is to hopefully be able to do the prescribed burn sometime between January and March 2022. During this time the remote weather station, installed in the field northwest of Godding Hollow Pkwy. and Colorado Blvd., will continue to monitor snow and moisture conditions for the area. This data will be beneficial in helping establish dates for the Town of Frederick prescribed and controlled burns.

Planned and controlled burns will take place this spring to keep areas within the Town of Frederick healthy. Frederick Public Works and the Frederick-Firestone Fire District Wildland Team have been working closely with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control to ensure burns are conducted safely. The areas identified include Centennial Park, Bulrush Wetlands, Fox Run, No Name Creek, and Bella Rosa Golf Course. These open areas are essential in filtering and purifying water, promoting healthy soil, and recycling nutrients - all critical aspects for good water quality in the Town of Frederick. The open areas also have tremendous scenic value, provide food and nesting sites for wildlife, and concealment from predators. We are working toward finalizing the plan and hoping to complete the work in late spring. Burn area maps and updates can be seen on the Town of Frederick website.
