Special Operations

While emergency medical response and firefighting are a main demand for District services, each medically trained firefighter has a special skill to which they devote many hours of training. Their special, technical capabilities are know as special operations and include:

  • High and Low Angle Rope Rescue
  • Surface, Swift Water and Ice Rescue
  • Trench and Confined Space Rescue
  • Structural Collapse
  • Hazardous Materials (HazMat)
  • Wildland and Urban Interface Firefighting

To expand the special operations resources, the District is a member of the North Area Technical Rescue Team (NATRT), as well as Colorado Task Force 1. This allows the District to expand its training resources and grain access to resources and personnel from other agencies during large incidents and natural disasters.
